World Water Day is March 22, 2022

Updated: Apr 5, 2023

Echo River Capital is proud to support World Water Day 2022. Tuesday, March 22nd has been United Nations World Water Day since 1993. March 22 reminds about how precious freshwater is for people and nature, and how water is worth protecting for everyone’s well-being.

This year is about making groundwater visible as described in this promotional video:

UN World Water Day reminds us that: “Groundwater is invisible, but its impact is visible everywhere. Out of sight, under our feet, groundwater is a hidden treasure that enriches our lives. Almost all of the liquid freshwater in the world is groundwater. As climate change gets worse, groundwater will become more and more critical. We need to work together to sustainably manage this precious resource. Groundwater may be out of sight, but it must not be out of mind.”

The UN Water report "Groundwater: Making the invisible visible," recommends three global actions, firstly including the acquisition of data and information, which is supported by Echo River's investment thesis of digitizing water through sensors and software.

If you desire to take action, World Water Day is asking you to shoot a 60-second video with these prompts: How does groundwater affect your life? Is there enough? Is it safe? What needs to be done to protect groundwater? Share your groundwater story!

Quick guide to make your film:

  • One minute max

  • Landscape orientation

  • Civil and truthful

  • In English or with English subtitles

Don’t forget to include the hashtags #MyGroundwaterStory & #WorldWaterDay, upload to YouTube or Vimeo, and send the link to mygroundwaterstory@un-igrac.org.

You can also support the amazing Mina Guli in her World Water Run to raise awareness about water on social media.
